Lokii pledges to strengthen education, socio-economic wellbeing of Matheniko

The incumbent Member of Parliament for Matheniko, also the National Resistance Movement-NRM Vice Chairperson for Karamoja, Hon. John Baptist Lokii has pledged to uphold his projects of promoting education and economic well-being among the community of Matheniko.

Speaking shortly after his nomination, Hon. Lokii said the Matheniko have been left behind in education in the entire region, with the highest rates of illiteracy, something he said as a leader, should be reversed so that the people of his constituency can gain from his leadership.

He stressed that due to his commitment to education, over 40 people have so far graduated with certificates, Diplomas and Degrees for the time he served as their area Member of Parliament. He said by voting him back, this initiative will be strengthened even more as he secures more scholarships, supports best performing pupils and also schools.

On social economic transformation, he stated that he will collaborate with government to ensure that programs aimed at promoting wealth creation, but also the community’s development are fast tracked to improve service delivery. He also called for collaboration with other leaders to ensure that the people of Matheniko and the entire region are served better.

Hon. Lokii will be battling with other candidates, notably, Ceaser Akol who is contesting on an independent ticket; Moses Awas said to be contesting under the National Unity Platform-NUP ticket, if they successfully be nominated today.
