For so long, Moroto Regional Referral Hospital has been grappling with a faulty X-Ray machine, due to the high patient influx for its services. This led to the machines’ frequent break down, leading to more complaints among patients and local leaders. With these concerns raised during the first community barraza held at the facility, the administration and board took up some of the recommendations and have since resolved them, with the Help from Ministry of Health.

One such critical issue was that of the X-Ray Machine! The Ministry of Health procured for the facility a brand new modern state of the Art Mobile X-Ray Machine, which has since been deployed to serve Karamoja people from their places of comfort, reducing their burden of traveling to the regional referral hospital.

According to the Hospital Senior Executive Consultant, Dr. Stephen Pande, Ministry of Health has procured a mobile X-ray van, that is a big win for the community, and enhancing health care services in the karamoja Sub- Region since this will greatly improve diagnostic capabilities, enabling healthcare professionals to provide timely and accurate diagnoses, especially for patients who can’t easily access the hospital.

Among these, he confirmed the availability of an installed X-ray machine which he says was a challenge since last year and now functioning well, Oxygen plant ready for use soon and plans to construct a modern mortuary among other developments.

Earlier, Joseph Achilla, the LC1 Labourline, reported that his community has severally raised concerns over a lack ofan X- ray machine which made them to seek for help from Matany hospital at a very high cost. On the other hand, LC3 South Division, Isaac Lomokol accused some staff at the hospital for alleged involvement in the theft and selling of hospital drugs which he says the community will make sure they start exposing the culprits.

However, many people have commended the good services, new leadership and ongoing progress at the hospital compared to other hospitals in the Country. In recent years, Moroto Regional Referral Hospital has been recognized for significant improvements especially in its 5S (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) implementation, becoming a top-performing regional referral hospital in Uganda.
